LaToya Hall, MSW, is currently a research assistant and program director at Wayne State University’s Institute of Gerontology (IOG). Throughout her MSW career, LaToya has dedicated her focus to asset building and financial stability programs serving vulnerable populations. In LaToya’s current position she directs the Success Aging Through Financial Empowerment (SAFE) program, which is dedicated to educating seniors and caregivers on financial exploitation (FE) and financial management; and offering one on one services to address senior financial exploitation and caregiver financial management.
The Scams and Identity Theft presentation will educate older adults on the dynamics of Financial Exploitation and how to protect themselves from being victimized. The presentation addresses older adults as targets and some of the most common types of exploitation. This presentation will also provide older adults with information on accessing SAFE program services, should they find themselves in need of assistance due to victimization.
